Thanks

Thanks for visiting my newest blog. I want to share all of my experiences with timeshares on this blog. In my years owning a timeshare I've found that changes are always happening and unless you keep on top of those changes you're not taking full advantage of your timeshare. So, I'd like to thank all the visitors to the site and I only ask that if you have anything to share about the timeshare experience that you feel free to do so whether it be a review of a location or a tip to reserve your vacation

  1. Hi there,

I am interested in buying Timeshare, but I don't want to be conned.
I have spoken to Global Grand Vacation Club, where you buy a week, and a few points for about R60 000, and there's a yearly levy of around R2,800. I've spoken to Flexiclub, where you get only points, and for R60 000 tou can get around 7000 points, or a few more, depending on the the 'deal', and thereafter if you want anymore points you have to buy them for R11,50 each! This can get you maybe two weeks out of season, but definitely not at a four or five star, out of season you get one week, at a basic resort. The thing is, the levies are absolutely terrible. You pay, yearly, R1640/year memebership fee alone, then you pay 6,5% user charge, plus R570 ref base reserve, plus R295 ref reserve levy, and then over and above a R20 donation to a charity. These fees go up every year, apparently according to inflation.I worked out that the fee would be R4788/year, on this package. However, if I purchase more points, the user charge increases, to an apparent ceiling of R7451. Can you just imagine paying R9379/year on user charge's alone?
    Timeshare seems a con!!!
